(The Center Square) – Super Tuesday has arrived, and voters in more than a dozen states are heading to their primary polling locations to select their preferred candidate for president.
Candidates for state and local offices also are on the ballot depending on the state.
Former President Donald Trump will see if he can further widen his already huge lead over former UN Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on what is the biggest day of the Republican presidential primary.
Heading into Tuesday, Trump secured 247 delegates to Haley’s 43. With 15 states holding either GOP primaries or caucuses Tuesday, 854 delegates up for grabs. A candidate needs 1,215 delegates to win the Republican nomination.
States with GOP presidential primaries or caucuses Tuesday include:

- Alaska
- Arkansas
- California
- Colorado
- Maine
- Massachusetts
- Minnesota
- North Carolina
- Oklahoma
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Utah
- Vermont
- Virginia
The U.S. territory of American Samoa will hold its primary election Tuesday as well.
In polling nationally, Trump leads with 79% support to Haley’s 15%, according to RealClearPolitics’ polling average. Haley has said she is more electable than Trump in the general, and polling does show her performing well against President Joe Biden.
Democrats also hold primaries or caucuses in 14 states. They are:

- Vermont
- Virginia
Biden does not face any major challenger and is expected to sweep the states Tuesday.
